About Me

I am an active local Councillor and Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Liverpool City Council.

I proudly represent Church ward in Wavertree, winning with over 50% of the vote in a first Lib Dem gain in a Wavertree seat for over 13 years. Previous victories include winning a seat on Knowsley Borough in the all out elections in 2016, ending the one-party Council and returning three Liberal Democrat Councillors to the Council Chamber. I was a Councillor on Prescot Town Council 2013-2015, winning the seat in a by-election, defeating the Labour candidate and achieving the first Liberal Democrat gain from Labour on Merseyside since the 2010 General Election.

I worked in financial services as a Mortgage Broker, helping people to realise their dream of home ownership and offering advice on mortgages and finance. I set up my own business in 2020.

I’m a passionate Liberal, I believe in freedom and equality as well as social justice and social mobility. Politics should be accessible to all regardless of a person’s race, gender and economic status. Coming from a working class background, I believe that the voice of hard-working people is under-represented in politics.

Hi. Iam increasingly concerned about the development on Oliver Lyme Road, Prescot. In the plans that neighbouring residents were allowed to see at the time (about 5yrs ago) beautiful gardens were to be at the front on OL Road. Not now – a monstrosity frame is now going up and when built will be flats. I live in Hunter Court opposite and this is not how it was going to be. Did you know about this as we the residents certainly were not informed.
I look forward to your reply
    Kind regards

Congratulations on your recent election victory.
Over the years I have pestered what used to be Knowsley Housing Trust with regard to a piece of land between Riding Hill Road and Berry Hill Road, Knowsley Village. Initially, there was a dispute between the Housing Trust and Knowsley Council as to the ownership of this piece of land but it is, undoubtedly, the Housing Trust’s. The plot was left to go wild and although I stage a one-man campaign to have the trust keep it mowed and tidy, it was an ongoing battle that I finally succumbed to. When the Trust did send operatives to cut the grass, it was usually left in heaps. It is now overgrown with grass three feet high and a magnet for residents to dump their rubbish. Last year I wrote to the Chief Executive suggesting that trees might be planted on the plot under the Government/Forestry Commission scheme but received no response or even an acknowledgment. I would be grateful if you could look into this matter for me and perhaps we could discuss it either on the telephone or by email. With thanks.

I agree with you on the no mow policy. I think re-wilding has its place. A percentage of grassed areas could be left to grow, but certainly not recreational spaces. I visited Calderdtones and it could only be described as – neglected! Weeds everywhere! It looked a mess!
Also. What about the weeds on pavements & Kerbs?
    Litter everywhere! is this re-wilding?
What has happened to the jobs of the people who in the past took care of our streets and parks?
I don’t care what LCC says. They are not maintaining our city in the way we would expect.
Just recently we picked a friend up from Manchester airport and he was shocked by how scruffy Liverpool looks.
You have my full support for what it’s worth.
    Regards,
    Lyn Phelan
